We have stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites Salida on several occasions over the past three years, and it has consistently been an awesome experience.

The front desk and service staff are super friendly and helpful, truly caring about customer satisfaction and ensuring your stay is the best it can be. The rooms are clean and decorated in a simple yet elegant way, and the beds are super comfortable.

Overall, the hotel is quiet and peaceful, making it an excellent place to stay when traveling to Salida.

However, during our most recent visit, we noticed some changes that need attention. As the property ages, it requires more maintenance and upgrades. The pool heater was broken, resulting in a pool temperature of 65 degrees, which is quite cold. The gym is clean but the equipment is a bit dated. While the rooms remain clean, the caulking around the bathtub is peeling off, which is quite unpleasant to see. Additionally, the breakfast service hours have been shortened, now closing at 9 am instead of the previous 10 am. For a vacationing family, a 9 am cutoff for breakfast is a tough ask.

I would encourage the owners to take note of these issues as they significantly detract from an otherwise fantastic stay. With some work put into the property, it would easily be a slam dunk 5-star review.

We just stayed here a day ago and I loved this place. Great staff people, great location, nicely updated and very nice and attractive rooms with everything you could need. Only downside is it appears that sone things have been beaten up a bit. I do not blame staff or management for this. I blame their customers. It looks like they’ve had a rough and tumble clientele who have abused some things (plumbing and some infrastructure) …people who aren’t used to taking care of things and figure this isn’t their place or their problem. Other than the customer bozos they’ve had stay here, I love this place for the reasons I shared: people, location, and appearance. The reason I blame the customers by the way, is because I cannot even imagine the staff would abuse their own building. It really is a shame that people do things like this.

Overall, it’s a nice place. Clean rooms, good breakfast when available, nice workout facilities. This last visit the fire alarm kept going off, electricity was out for hours in the morning which meant the room was hot. No breakfast (from no electricity) and the credit card room hold took weeks to come off my account. Definitely will stay here again when back in the area, but would like to see the hotel be more proactive in addressing problems quickly.

This hotel was amazing. The rooms are huge and they are immaculate. The staff is so friendly. The breakfast was delicious ? with so many options. Jim did an excellent job making sure all the food was fresh and well stocked. The kitchen area was spotless. If you are visiting Salida or are passing through and need a place to stay, I highly recommend this hotel.

The staff is so friendly and accommodating, especially Jim! We particularly liked Jim's breakfast we noticed on the days he handled breakfast the food was incredibly awesome and the service was impeccable. Jim always made sure everything was hot and fresh. We did have one problem with our TV in room 407. We asked the staff to fix the TV but no one was doing anything, until Jim heard about the problem. Jim immediately came to our room and fixed our TV, we couldn't be more happy with Jim. In fact, it seems like Jim keeps this hotel running, I would hate to see what would happen if Jim wasn't here. I just wanted you to know what a great employee and an asset Jim is to the Hampton inn.

Positive: The hotel was pet friendly, provided a pet relief area outside, with bags and a trash can, and was connected to a trail adjacent to the river. This was great for traveling with our dog. Negative: The power went out at 10pm and still wasn't restored at 9am. This isn't really the hotel's fault, but was frustrating.

I have stayed here quite a few times as the location is ideal and there is a nice open space with a river behind the hotel. The staff is very friendly (not really trained) but I would not say this Hampton Inn is up the standards as the other Hampton Inn's I have been to.

When they loose power the TV in the rooms no longer connects to the internet, so although the channels work, there is no guide to tell you what you are watching. I was told they had to wait for "their tv guy" to come out to fix it. This is the second time this has happened while staying there. The shower nozzle was stripped so I had to mess with it for a few minutes to get the shower to turn on. When we pulled out the couch for my kids to sleep on the sheets were covered in urine. The dog potty area in the back had no waste bags the entire time I was there and the trash was overflowing and never changed.

For over $250 a night I would expect better.

Its was a nice hotel but doesn't seem to be upkept very well. I will probably look for another place to stay when I visit Salida again.

Upon arrival, I waited at the front desk for about 5 minutes before a staff member came to check me in. There was no bell or sign indicating when somebody would be back. The staff member who was at the front desk was not very friendly. After checking in, the room seemed okay. We went to the pool and quickly learned that it was not heated, and had not been in some time. The pool was extremely cold. We notified the same front desk employee who only indicated that nobody else had said anything about it. He didn’t offer to notify maintenance, close the pool or anything. He was not helpful. A previous review one week prior to this one indicated that the pool was broken at that point as well.

As we got situated in the room, there were other issues. For a room that sleeps 6, only 3 towels were provided which is strange. There were extremely small garbage bags in all of the cans that don’t fit any garbage. It seemed like they were using the ice bucket bags as garbage bags and they were so small they hardly stretched across the opening of the can. There was no body wash in the shower. There was also garbage debris in the hallway outside the room. It seemed that the housekeeping standards were pretty low.

For an unknown reason, the fire alarm went off just after midnight. This was not the fault of the hotel and while a huge inconvenience, the front desk employee was excellent. (This was somebody different than the person I checked in with.) His name was Ben and he was so kind throughout this ordeal. His kindness continued the next morning during check out. I wish that had been my experience when I checked in. The hotel was okay, but there are definitely some areas that need more attention.
